I fell for a cheap and light-weight super-tele taking me far beyond the 200mm that used to be my farthest option.
This is by no means stellar optics and with locked aperture at f/8 it does need a lot of light. Either way it’s 500mm (equals 750mm on dSLR with crop-factor) so you have to have a steady hand or preferably a pod to achieve sharpness. It has a fun doughnut effect bokeh that can be used creatively but looks very unusual.
